Data, Data Everywhere
Call for Workshops
BNCOD is a truly international gathering that attracts participants representing a wide range of interests in databases and information retrieval. Now in its 24th year, BNCOD 2007 will take place at the University of Glasgow on July 3rd-5th 2007. The conference has consistently attracted papers, posters and presentations of the highest standard. It presents a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and explore issues of common interest. A social programme is planned that showcases the best aspects of the vibrant City of Glasgow.
The BNCOD organising committee is soliciting proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with main programme.
The purpose of BNCOD workshops is to discuss emerging aspects of database technology with students, researchers and practitioners.
The workshops may focus on any aspect of database technology. The aims of the workshops are to develop understanding, to exchange experiences, to build research communities and to help to characterise the direction of future developments. Possible workshop topics include Databases & the Web, Bioinformatics, Business Information Systems, Information Retrieval, Multimedia Databases, eGov etc.
Workshops may be of one day or half-day duration and should be timed to take place on either 2nd/6th July (full day) or 3rd/5th July (half-day). Proposals should be no longer than four pages, should describe the background and focus of the workshop, the background of the workshop organising committee and the estimated number of participants. Proposals should also include a draft Call for Papers.
The organisers of BNCOD 2007 will provide a meeting room and it is currently intended to publish workshop proceedings in a single volume.
All other issues related to proposed workshops will have to be planned and organised by the workshop organising committee.
Workshop proposals should be sent by email to John.Wilson[at]cis.strath.ac.uk
