GIDOF, a Generic Index Development and Operation Framework, provides re-usable components that cover several key aspects of creating bespoke index technology. This includes the management of performance-critical parameters, automatic parameter exploration and tuning, and the provision of generic persistence components. The development of this framework has been guided by on-going case studies exploring particular applications of bespoke indexing technology. This paper introduces the GIDOF framework and presents the results obtained from a case study exploring the development of a novel disk-resident suffix-based index for DNA sequences. </ABSTRACT></RECORD></RECORDS></XML>
