Most existing research of probabilistic broadcasting has focused on optimising pure probabilistic flooding with comparatively little activities in its application in practical and important areas such as route discovery. In this paper, we investigate the optimal forwarding probability for on-demand route discovery in a well-known MANETs routing protocol, namely DSR. The simulation results reveal important relationships between the forwarding probabilities and the performance of the on-demand routing protocols. Our results are useful for optimally setting the forwarding probabilities when designing efficient on-demand route discovery algorithms.</ABSTRACT></RECORD></RECORDS></XML>
