From Glasgow Airport

The easiest route from the Airport, would be via taxi at an estimated cost of £10 to the University of Glasgow. [Black taxis can be picked up easily at the Airport]. Travel time approx. 30 minutes.

If travelling by car, head for Glasgow City Center & East on the M8. Remain in the (inside) lane and take the slip road for the Clyde Tunnel. At Anniesland Cross turn right along the A82, Great Western Road. This will provide a straight road to the University, which is located approximately seven miles from the Airport. You should continue along the A82 and turn right into Byres Road (signs for the University can be visibly seen). After two sets of pedestrian lights, you will arrive at a major crossroads (with traffic lights) at which you should get into the left hand lane and turn left onto University Avenue. Continue up University Avenue until you see large iron gates (on your right hand side) set back from which are three flag-poles. You should be able to park your car either on University Avenue or on one of the adjacent streets.

On foot, proceed through these gates and go past the flag poles. In front of you, you will see an open entrance to the main building. Go up the stairs at the back of the entrance way - this will bring you up into the quadrangles of the university. Head for the cloisters and from there go to the Bute Hall. The direction of the Senate Rooms and the Teallach Workshop will be signposted.

From Glasgow Train Station(Queen Street/Central)

The nearest rail station to the University is Partick, about one mile to the west of the University. It has an interchange with the underground and with bus services on Dumbarton Road. The easiest route from train stations in Glasgow would be by underground to Hillhead. (Buchanan Underground is located adjacent to Queen Street Station; from Central Station you should exit onto Argyle Street and turn left. Walk approximately 100 yards until you see St Enoch Underground located on the right). Travel time approx. 5 minutes.

From Hillhead Underground you will exit onto Byres Road. Turn right and take the next road on the right, Gt George Street. Continue all the way up Gt George Street (a very steep hill) until you come to the end at a T-junction. At the junction, turn right and continue along Hillhead Street. Proceed past the end of the cul-de-sac at which point you will have the Hub and the Library to your left and right respectively. Go down the hill until you reach the main road. Directly facing you (across the road) will be one set of gates, and slightly further along to the left will be another (set back from which are flag-poles). Cross the road and go through the latter gates (with the flag poles).

If arriving in Edinburgh by rail, you should take the shuttle train to Glasgow. These trains run regularly and the journey will take approximately one hour.

Further directions/maps will be made available on request.
