Assessment Procedure

Term papers will cover 30% of your total marks/grade. Here are some guidelines of what aspects of the paper will be important in assigning a grade. Use these to check that your paper doesn't suffer from obvious flaws.

Content
Degree to which the student has made clear
a. What the paper/subject/problem is about
b. Where it fits in the field and what its contribution is
c. The essential ideas of the paper in their own words
d. The structure of their discussion
e. Quality of comparison of various ideas.

Degree to which the student has
a. Developed and included his/her own insights/ assessments/opinions on the topic they have presented
b. Referenced work directly related to the topic of the paper
c. Referenced work related to the wider context of the paper
d. Explained the ideas presented in the papers
e. Provided a coherent discussion
f. Provided a paper of appropriate length for the topic
g. Provided a paper of appropriate depth for the topic
