Abstract:

Just under a year ago, Jim and I had a few beers in the research club bar. After the third pint we decided to put the Hunterian museum `on the web'. This talk will provide a general overview of the work and will review three of the projects that emmerged from it: the general pages; Jim's world and the video pages

The talk will focus in upon a number of research issues for the development of on-line information systems. In particular, we will discuss the problems of performing task analysis when web pages must support users of all ages and many different occupations. We will also discuss solutions to these problems. For instance, we will present redundant techniques for navigating video and multimedia resources over wide area networks.
