It'll Be Alright On The Night (GIST Video Event)

Abstract

This is an open session where people are encouraged to bring along any videos of interactive systems or graphics to show to the rest of GIST. The films could illustrate your favourite interface being demonstrated. They might present the latest graphical tools and techniques.

Alternatively... May and Barnard recently presented a paper on `cinematic interface design' at this year's Interact conference. They argues that directors handled pan and zoom operations in a more natural way than is currently supported by a range of scroll bars and interactive navigation mechanisms. You might like to bring along a video clip or sequence that illustrates other ways in which interface designers might learn from the performing arts?

As an added incentive, if we don't have enough tapes to talk about then Fionnuala and Michelle will be shwoing their home movies...
