MANTCHI and GIST

Julian Newman, Glasgow Caldeonian University (and others...)

Abstract

Matchi is a project funded by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council. It is helping lecturers in Human Computer Interaction at a numbere of Scottish Universities to share course modules or atoms.

There will be a GIST meeting on 14/1/99 at 1600 in Glasgow University Computing Science Dept, 17 Lilybank Gardens, Glasgow, to follow up and review the ongoing impact of MANTCHI after the formal project end. I hope we shall have short presentations from the following:

  • Michelle Montgomery Masters: Use of MANTCHI concepts within Revelation
  • Julian Newman: Experience of joint CSCW seminars with Napier using Netmeeting; using Amar s ATOM editing tools to structure Research Methods materials as Atoms for reuse within GCU; use of MANTCHI appraoches within PIPVIC2.
  • Terry Mayes: Short Update on Vicarious Learning. I would still welcome further offers of short (5-10 min max) talks on how MANTCHI lives ...

Note: I am to give a short upbeat presentation to SHEFC on Feb 7th. Defeatism means being shot on quarterdeck "pour encourager les autres". So all sucess stories will enhance my survival-chances.
