Hello, my name is Julie Rico and I am currently a research student at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK. I began my PhD at Glasgow in the Fall of 2008, advised by Professor Stephen Brewster. I received my undergraduate degree in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. At Irvine, I participated in research with Professor Paul Dourish as part of the ICS Honors Program.
My research areas include multimodal interaction and social acceptability of mobile multimodal interfaces. I frequently work with the Nokia N95, using Python for S60 to create mobile applications. I enjoy designing and evaluating mobile applications as well as using ethnographic methods to better understand technology usage.
