Software and Systems Strand

Goal: to develop a series of tools to support the operation of a small distributed training organisation, where both the customers and the employees need to be able to access information about the organisation via the web.

Background: The organisation oversees courses in life skills development. The trainers are spread across the country, running courses both locally and nationally. A web-site has already been set up to allow prospective trainees to find out more information about the courses on offer and to submit enquiries or register an interest. The tools developed in the project will ensure that the web pages are up-to-date and support the trainers to process the enquiries. Additionally records of courses and course participants will be retained.

Major components:

The software used will be Access for the database, ColdFusion for the connection between web and database, Exim for mail management and Dreamweaver (probably) to construct the pages themselves.

More than one student can work on different aspects of this project.
