I am a retired academic and honorary research fellow in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Applications of matching

I have been responsible for the technical aspects involved in the development of a centralised scheme for matching medical students to foundation training programmes in Scotland. The scheme came into operation as a national matching scheme in Scotland, known as SPA (Scottish PRHO Allocations), in 1999-2000. In 2005-06, a new version of this scheme, known as SFAS (Scottish Foundation Allocation Scheme) came on stream. In 2009-10 it was enhanced to deal with compatible matching of couples.
