Simon is a SICSA funded lecturer in the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow. Prior to obtaining a permanent position, Simon worked on several post-doctoral projects as well as spending 5 months as a consultant for Mosaiques diagnostics and Therapeutics.

His research focuses on machine learning and statistical inference predominantly within the fields of computational biology and bioinformatics as well as beginning to dabble in the interesting world of multimodal interaction. He has reviewed for many top international journals, conferences and funding bodies and has recently (August 2009) joined the Editorial board for PLoS ONE.

Simon is a member of the Inference, Dynamics and Interaction research group, led by Prof. Rod Murray-Smith. Prior to that, he was a member of the Inference group (details here).
