Jon Ritchie

Hi and welcome to my home page.
I am a member of the Computing Science Department's Information Retrieval groupwith a special interest in electronic publishing. Currently I am mostly looking at the electronic provision of The Computer Journal, published by Oxford University Press and am involved in the Irides project with Mark Magennis and Naveed Khan.
Our other main electronic publishing project at the moment is for the production of the Workshops in Computing Series from Springer-Verlag which is being produced by Cathy Waite .

Hobbies and such

This is a picture of a clarinet - see hobbies and such :-)My main relaxation these days is playing saxophone and clarinet in a variety of groups ranging from the University Wind Band to the Clarinet Duo Obesa Cantavit which I formed last year with my mate Carron (who denies that she is interested in anything to do with Star Trek, judge for yourself ) to play at small functions and parties.
For those keen to hear us we have a sound bite of our intro piece composed especially for us by Derick Kirkwood .

I am also a fairly recent convert to the art of Tai Chi and am a member of the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.
